DISCOVER INDUCTION COOKING

Wolf induction cooking at Bekins

People have used gas and electric cooktops for decades. However, we find many people have not truly experienced the benefits of induction cooking. Visit our showroom to test the very best induction, gas and electric cooktops from brands like Wolf to see which is best for you.

COMPARE INDUCTION COOKING TO GAS AND ELECTRIC

An induction cooktop features many of the benefits found in gas or electric.

  • Like gas, induction cooking responds quickly to temperature change. It heats up quickly and drops to a simmer almost immediately.
  • Like the electric cooktop, you can clean messes with ease and lay the cooktop flush into your countertop. It will act as counter space when you don’t need it for cooking.

Induction also provides more safety features.

  • Unlike gas or electric, the “burner” only heats when a magnetic pan covers most or all of the surface area. If you turn on the cooktop but do not cover the “burner” with a pan, then the surface will not heat up.
  • Unlike gas or electric, you can put your hand on the “burner” moments after you take the pan off, and not burn your hand. It will feel warm but not scalding hot. The induction only heats the pan, so the surface only receives heat from the pan. If you leave the pan on the surface long enough, the surface will heat up.

HOW INDUCTION COOKING WORKS

Induction essentially uses a magnetic charge to heat your pan, so it only works with certain pans. What is the best way to test your pan? See if a magnet sticks. If it sticks, your pan contains the right material to activate the induction.

The magnetic charge can also create a little bit of a buzz sound in the kitchen, which is something you would want to hear in our showroom before buying.

YOU SAY IT WON’T WORK? A SIMPLE INDUCTION FIX

Induction Cooktop Feature Image Blog

It can happen to anyone. You buy an induction cooktop from Bekins. Our Appliance Professional shows you that it only works with a certain type of cookware, and makes certain you leave with the right one. Later, our team does such a wonderful job installing the cooktop, that you tell your friend about it.

Your friend shows they were listening, because you get more cookware to go with your new purchase. How nice! The new set offers different sizes than what you bought at Bekins.

Dinnertime arrives and you decide to start off with something simple. You pull out a small pot and decide to cook soup. After pouring the soup into the pot, you patiently wait for it cook.

Nothing.

The soup has not warmed up.

The induction cooktop must be broken right?

A SIMPLE FIX YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE

The smallest details can make the biggest difference. You call the Bekins Service Team to inspect your new purchase and you will not believe what they tell you.

You remember the new pot your friend bought you? The pot does not completely cover the element. So the cooktop does not recognize the pot to start cooking.

Our service team has walked into calls where the cookware simply did not cover enough of the element.

It reminds you that reading your customer care guide can really clear up any issues. It also shows the importance of getting the right materials from trained professionals (like the helpful Bekins Appliance Professional who led you to the original cookware).

EVER USED A INDUCTION COOKTOP?

For people who are not familiar with induction cooking, we present some benefits of choosing an induction cooktop:

  • The cooktop only heats when magnetized. So if you turn on the element, it will not start cooking until a magnetic pan rests on top of it.
  • It makes cleaning quicker and easier. Gas ranges might require lifting heavy grates and sneaking into little crevices. The induction top lets you clean spills while the pan still cooks. The pan heats up, the rest of the induction top stays room temperature. The element that cooks your food even cools down quickly, which means you can clean that too in a much shorter period of time.
  • It also heats food quickly. Expect induction to cook your food in almost half the time.
  • Temperatures change quickly too. Take your food from a boil to a simmer in seconds without even lifting the pan.
  • You waste less heat and energy. Think of all the heat and energy that flows around your pan on a gas range. The electric top might also heat areas that don’t need it.

NO COMMERCIAL NEEDED: PRO STYLE APPLIANCES FOR HOME

Pro Style Appliances Web Image

Want to cook like a pro at home? We suggest you test pro style appliances in our Bekins showrooms instead of buying a commercial appliance for your home.

COMMERCIAL APPLIANCES BELONG IN COMMERCIAL KITCHENS

Commercial appliances will likely fail a home inspection. Even if they did pass inspection, they do not work well at home for a variety of reasons:

  • VOID: Most commercial products void the warranty if used in a residential setting.
  • LOUD: They make a lot of noise.
  • LOOKS: Manufacturers often build commercial appliances deeper than residential cabinets and counter tops. They also require more space to vent. So commercial appliances will likely leave ugly gaps and extend into your working space.
  • HOT: Commercial ranges produce more heat which means you will need a commercial grade vent. Prepare for costly makeup air and more noise.
  • NOT COLD ENOUGH: Commercial refrigerators only need to keep food fresh for a day or two. So if you want your food to last longer, choose a home refrigerator.
  • SERVICE: Many commercial companies will not service appliances in a home. Residential appliance companies do not have the proper training or access to the right parts. Which means, you will likely struggle to find someone to fix your commercial appliance in the home.
  • AND THAT’S JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG!

A BETTER FIT FOR YOUR HOME: PRO STYLE APPLIANCES

Pro style appliances offer a commercial look and feel but do not present any of the problems listed above. Many brands found in our Bekins showrooms offer pro style appliances:

  • WOLF
  • SUB-ZERO
  • JENN-AIR
  • KITCHENAID
  • THERMADOR
  • AND MORE!
